AN INTRODUCTION TO THE GUILD OF FREE TRADERS
Welcome to The Guild of Free Traders.  This post will give you some of the basic information you need as a prospective member.

If you are seeking to join The Guild of Free Traders, please be aware that we require that our members must possess a level 2 license (or better) in trade & commerce and must have the ability to enter UIT space without being attacked by station guards and/or strike forces.  If potential members do not meet these standards, we will gladly mentor them until they do meet them.  You should try to meet up with us on the weekends.  TGFT Runs/co-sponsors various events.  Post a message in this board for more information or chat with any member.  In-game, channel 444 is monitored by members of TGFT for guild communications.  If you wish to contact us this may be the quickest way.

Other info about the guild before you make your mind up about applying for membership.

1) Our motto is Live Well In This Universe.  As a guild, we try to be neutral and fair. We don't believe in being flashy - we believe in doing things well and letting our actions speak for themselves . In general, TGFT members do not attack other players. However TGFT officially responds to pirates to defend our members and retaliate for attacks.  TGFT strongly condemns griefing and will not tolerate griefing by TGFT members.  Griefing consists of a pattern of conduct intended to or reasonably likely to cause the griefed player to stop playing.  Please keep in mind, though, being killed in grey space while afk mining is not being griefed.  Being repeatedly shot at by the same player while you hang around in Sedina B-8 is not being griefed.

2) We interview all prospective members.  However, you are welcome and encouraged to join us in TGFT events before you set up an interview.  Also, please be patient with our interview process because it may take a few days to set up a time for a formal interview.

3) All new members are Probationary Members.  The probation period lasts a minimum of two weeks. Probationary Members do not pay dues.  As a Probationary Member, the best thing you can do is get to know the members better.  We think that playing VO with a group of people you enjoy is one of the most important aspects of choosing a guild.   When you come on line, greet your fellow guild members.  Don't be afraid to organize a convoy or mining party if you have the time.  TGFT likes pick-up events and we will try to join you if we can.

3) We require all active members to pay monthly guild dues,  250k a month. Dues are paid to the Guild Bank.

4) Weekly guild meetings are held Sundays at 2000 GMT (1400 CST)  We meet at our clubhouse in Dau. 

5) TGFT's basic governing document is its Charter.   Basically, the members elect the council.  Elections are held for three seats every two months.  The council elects the commander every six months.  The commander appoints the lieutenants.
