Well, as most of you have noticed. I've been missing for a bit by now and the reason is the blame of my motherborad from what I could deduct after a week of trying to locate the problem.

But knowing the problem is only half the of it.  I now need to A) find a replacement motherboard or B) build a new computer.

The reasoning why I have those two options is that my now defunct motherboard is a Asus K8N Socket 754 with a AGP 3.0 graphics slot and if you looked high and low for such a thing, you would find very few and not cheap (imo).  If I were to go with a new build then I would need to dish out a bit more cash than for a old tech motherboard but at least I would have warrenties and a computer with more computing power.

Right now I'm just cruising on a older computer and will see if I have a chance of getting a replacement by the end of August or I suck it up and build a new computer.

If you know of or have such a working relic and don't mind relinquishing if from your control for a fair price then notify me and then see about arrangements.

I put together a decent system for around $500 from newegg.com -- I can post the build out if it will help...

Total with shipping was right around $580.

This was a Linux build, so I was looking for the motherboard specifically because I knew it was compatible with openSuse 10.3. I was also on a budget after just shelling out $1500 for my wife's new iMac (which I don't use). I get an average of between 250-400 fps in most sectors in VO and greater than 100fps even in BS.

You could trim $23 off by using the stock fan that comes with the CPU but the Rosewill makes it run super cool. If you fall back to only one HD (I have mine RAID 0'd together) you'd save about $62. You could also trim down to 2GB of RAM I suppose (saving another $49), but I run VM's so having 4GB let's me run Linux with a decent sized XP VM if I have to. So if you trimmed all that down you'd knock it to right around $450.

All you need is a 2032 Lithium watch battery.
