After putting in a ton of overtime for the last month or so, I'm very glad to report that the project I was working on went live today with a spectacular success. My company's online registration system just did about 3 million dollars in business since Noon today. (We don't do that much every day, this is just the peak time on opening day.) About 30% of that came in during the first 10 minutes. My job was to help make sure the servers were ready to handle it, and we just blew the doors off everone's performance expectations. In fact, our busiest server peaked out at a mere 20% load. I am soooo happy, and so is my boss...
I'd like to thank MySQL for making such a kickass database engine, Apple for making those rockin' fast quad-core Mac Pro workstations, and Omnipilot for for making some awesome middleware (Lasso Pro).
Today was a very good day.
This also means I can finally get back to Vendetta now...
Booya!
