Hi all, just looking for some info. I am looking for a new MMORPG to play. I have tried a few that just don't work for me. Some are just full of guys running around asking for people to give them stuff (Guild Wars!) and others seem kinda pointless. I played Asherons Call for quit some time, but gave up on it when all the bots took over. Played City of Hero's for about a year, but it got too repititive. I can't seem to find much info about this one. I generally play a support type character in all the games that I have played. Healer in City of Hero's, and a major buff master in Asherons Call. Is there something like that available in this game?

The not so good news: The number of players on at any one time is relatively small and the number of in-game "missions" is currently small and therefore repetitive.
The good news: There's lots of role-playing between players, and the game engine works well and allows you to actually pilot your ship against other ships in combat, which is very refreshing for a multiplayer game. Also, the developers listen keenly to the players and are continually adding more content and support for content to the game. The price is also very affordable.
As for player archetypes, there are several:
Nationalistic warrior - Itani vs Serco
Trader
Pirate
Miner
National rebel
Mercenary
or any combination of the above (it's all about what you do, not some class slot you sign up for)
As for supporting other characters, there are repair "guns" that can be used to heal other player's ships as they are flying around. You could also haul cargo for people, which could be dangerous if it's for the ongoing Serco vs Itani Capture the Cargo struggle. You could also join a guild that is dedicated to some cause, such as the Vipers which act as the space police of sorts, or one of the nationalistic guilds fighting for the Serco or Itani. Or you could join a nice trade guild (hint, hint) and fly convoy escort or join a dastardly pirate guild and lie in wait to ambush a trade convoy.
